Three Weeks On: Granite City Good Food's Retrospective of Taste of Grampian

Updated: Jun 27, 2022

On 4 June 2022, P&J Live played host to the return of Taste of Grampian, the region's largest festival. As part of the event, CFINE partnered with the organisers as the charity partner. Three weeks on, Granite City Good Food takes a look at some of the highlights of the event itself.

On Saturday 4 June, the region’s largest food festival- the Taste of Grampian- made a triumphant comeback after three years. Over 150 local food and drink businesses spent the day showcasing some of the region’s finest produce- it’s food and drink. From hot sauce to honey, cheeses to chocolate, coffee, and everything in between, the best of the north-east was on full display.

At Granite City Good Food, we wanted to share the best of the day from our perspective:

Food

A food festival wouldn’t be right without foodie treats! We had such a great day exploring all of the businesses, and chatting to their owners, and it was clear that the diversity and range of local food business was on full-show.

The hall was packed with fantastic local producers, and some of our highlights are featured in the carousel below:

Fun

There were also lots of opportunities to get involved in aspects of foodie-fun on the day, with a dedicated kids zone with lots of great opportunities to get involved in a wide variety of activity.

Amongst the activities featured, children and young people were given the opportunity to create their own "pea-pals", hosted by CFINE in the kids zone. This involved planting pea seeds and decorating the pots- creating characters to take home and bring to life!

Charity

This year, Community Food Intiatives North East were chosen as the Taste of Grampian's Community Food Initiative Northeast (CFINE) was the charity of the event this year and the team were present to showcase the services offered, and to sell fruit and vegetables sourced through its social enterprise initiatives. CFINE even brought it's Mobile Pantry Van along to the event to showcase to attendees, and sell fruit pots.

The team had a great day, and even had the chance to tell Si King and James Martin about our work!

All-in-all: Taste of Grampian- haste ye back!
